Channel View, Grangetown

The Channel View Estate is a strong and vibrant community at the very heart of Grangetown. Cardiff Council is redeveloping this estate by replacing the existing 180 properties that includes the current 1970s high rise tower block with up to 400 new homes.

The project will deliver

• high quality, spacious, highly energy efficient, low-carbon, mixed tenure homes,
• better connectivity for the estate and for the wider community,
• improvements to the public open space at the Marl.

Wates Residential have been appointed as the developing partner for the project. They will deliver all phases of the regeneration with the immediate priority being phase 1 Older Persons Accommodation that is replacing the existing tower block.

Wates Residential have commenced work on the first phase of the Channel View regeneration scheme.

The first phase will deliver 126 older person apartments in 2 blocks to replace the existing tower block.

• Block A will be Community Living scheme that includes 102 flats, extensive community facilities, a rooftop terrace and a café.
• Block B will be independent living accommodation that includes 24 flats and a rooftop terrace.

Both blocks will provide spacious, accessible apartments with private amenity space and balconies. Existing Channel View High Rise tenants will be prioritised into both blocks.
