Skate Park in Coed - y - Nant, Pentwyn. Consisting of ramps and a multi games use area.

Parc Coed y Nant is a large urban park located to the rear of Pentwyn Leisure Centre.

The park has an existing skate park which is in poor condition and not well used despite significant local demand. This project proposes the removal of the existing skate park equipment and provision of a new concrete skatepark which will be developed through consultation. A youth shelter was removed some years ago and the bins and benches have either been damaged or are in a poor state of repair. This project also proposes new bins and benches and consideration to be given to the provision of a new youth shelter.

This will provide a centralised, convenient location for young people at facilities which are robust and usable. The skate park would be located on the existing site at the leisure centre which has parking and a variety of amenities.

A plan will be provided based on the following:

  • Decommission/remove existing skate park
  • Replace with a new concrete SPOT (300m2) skate park
  • The consideration of a new youth shelter
  • Replace bins and benches

Have your say

An engagement process with the public, other local skate facilities, councillors and the Parks department will be undertaken. On Tuesday 25th February between 3-5, an open engagement event will be held at the skate park (if the weather is bad it will be held in the leisure centre). The draft plans will be shared by Wheelscape, which have been prepared alongside the team at Spit and Sawdust.
