The Neighbourhood Renewal Scheme (NRS) is a city-wide initiative which aims to address local regeneration priorities. The programme delivers small scale regeneration projects put forward by Local Members. Projects are designed and developed in partnership with local residents, community groups and agencies to address an identified need or problem.

Following ideas put forward by Local Ward Members and comments received at a consultation event held at Riverside Festival, the proposed scheme will feature:

  • Community garden area, with raised beds.
  • Renewed footpaths
  • Additional bins
  • Attractive meadow and low-level planting
  • Picnic tables
  • New benches
  • Seating feature
  • Calisthenics / Workout area
  • Table tennis table and Chess table
  • Additional self-close gates.
  • Historic local photos, adhered to the substation

We are also looking to replace the community artwork in the centre of Despenser Gardens, as well as addressing damaged playground equipment.
