Grand Avenue Day Centre, Ely

We completed our extensive refurbishment of Grand Avenue Day Centre in Ely in July 2018.

We redesigned the building as a specialist dementia centre, in partnership with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board to provide improved support to individuals and carers.

The staff played an invaluable part in providing input for the design process to make sure the interior environment is dementia friendly.

The works included:

• A new entrance lobby with improved access
• Refurbishment of bathrooms to provide a wet room with bath, shower and toilet
• Improved disabled toilets
• A lift to allow the basement rooms to be used as new activity rooms
• Internal decoration to provide a dementia friendly environment
• New furniture
• Improvements to the rear garden to provide an accessible external environment
• Improvements to the front of the building including new signage
